Netflix's front-end loop is light on tagged coding questions but heavy on culture fit. The hiring manager round is essentially a deep behavioral interview — read the Netflix Culture memo before going in. Their process also reportedly changes every few months, so always confirm the format with your recruiter.
Interview process
- Recruiter screening: technology and experience match, no real technical questions — just the stack you've worked in and a high-level summary of past work.
- Hiring manager interview: primarily behavioral, with a deep-dive on a "project you're proud of" and conflict / feedback questions ("issues with another engineer", "negative feedback you got the most from your manager"). Heavy emphasis on values and the "Dream Team" idea.
- Technical screen: JavaScript-focused, exact format depends on team. Some candidates report fast-paced live coding where hesitancy can lead the interviewer to end the round early.

Netflix changes their process every couple of months. One thing that's been consistent in recent loops: you need to code really confidently and quickly — if they sense you're hesitant or making mistakes even while trying to debug, they'll just tell you to stop the interview. Make sure your live-coding fluency is at the level where you can think out loud without getting stuck.

The hiring manager round at Netflix is mainly behavioral around your experience: "project you're proud of" (with a deepdive but not super deep), handling issues with another engineer, what's the negative feedback you got the most from your manager, etc. Knowing their values — the Culture memo and the Dream Team concept — is helpful, though it didn't translate into a pass for me.
Recruiter screening was pretty quick and basic — matching technologies and experience, no technical questions besides "what stack you've worked with" and a high-level summary of past projects.
